About This Whole Home Colonial House Renovation

A new kitchen was a vital element of this Colonial house renovation.

This 1880 Colonial in Winthrop needed a major facelift. The project took the first floor down to the studs and included work on an outdoor living space off the kitchen. The homeowners wanted to update their vintage home and create a floorplan designed for entertaining. We went to work on fulfilling their ambitions.

The kitchen was a vital element of this Colonial house renovation. The homeowners loved entertaining family and friends and sought a true chef's kitchen to make that easier. When we got into the demolition, we discovered some structural issues that needed to be addressed. We started by doing the structural work to make the kitchen area stable. We rewired the space with all new electrical. The kitchen includes all custom cabinetry, stone countertops, and all Viking appliances, including a double wall oven and cooktop with a flattop griddle.

The chef's kitchen inside lets the homeowners entertain with ease. To increase the flow and functionality, we also created a fantastic multi-level deck with a complete outdoor kitchen and dining area overlooking the pool for outdoor entertaining. We replaced the patio door leading to the outdoor living space and added a transom window to let in more light. The deck is made with 2X12 construction and includes Azac decking and railing for low maintenance. We also added a hidden entry below the deck that allows access to the incredible finished basement.

This whole house remodel resulted in a chef's kitchen is a dream for entertaining. The seamless connection between the kitchen and outdoor living space makes this the perfect entertainer's home.

This Colonial house renovation gave the homeowners exactly what they were looking for, the perfect place for year-round entertaining for family and friends.
