1930s Cape Home Addition and Remodel
Wellesley, MA
This Home Received A Primary Bath Suite, Study, Custom Built-Ins, And More
This lovely Cape in Wellesley, Massachusetts, was constructed in 1939. It was in dire need of an expansion to accommodate the homeowners growing family. We designed and built a two-story addition that included a new primary bath and dressing room upstairs and a first-floor study. On the exterior, a new front porch overhang, roof, and garage doors rounded out the new look!
After discussing the project with the homeowners, we understood their desire and began the work of designing and producing what they needed. In this instance, the homeowners wanted to increase the functionality of their home and add additional living space. We added custom built-ins in the primary bathroom and primary bedroom closet, including custom shelving for her shoe collection and built-in dressers, all built onsite. We used the contours of the space to create custom shelves to maximize storage!
This Cape home addition allowed the perfect opportunity to create a usable and aesthetically beautiful study/home office. Again the homeowners sought functionality and asked us to design a built-in desk and custom shelving in the study. We designed and built the custom shelving around the window and a lovely window seat, all built onsite. One of the homeowner's primary requests was more storage, so the window seat is designed as hidden storage and features cedar inserts.
The addition allowed us to give this Wellesley family the space they required to live and work comfortably in their home. Custom shelving in the primary bedroom closet and in the study, along with the hidden storage in the window seat, added the functionality they sought.
Our clients love the result of the home remodel and their new, more functional home.
